The Country Oaks community located in Lakeland, Fl off Old Polk City Rd is a residential development consisting of 124 homes. The first homes were built in 1984 and the majority of the homes were built in the 1980's and early 1990's with the final home built in 2019. The community gets its name from the stately native live oak trees as well as many other species of oaks. One of the unique features of the community is traffic islands located along the main entry street that contain large oak trees, as well as other traffic islands throughout the neighborhood.
Country Oaks is well known around Lakeland for their annual "Come to Bethlehem" Christmas display. The display consists of wooden figurines of biblical characters, animals and props, that originate at the neighborhood entry and eventually lead to the Bethlehem display. The late Albert and Thelma Penn originated and created this display over 25 years ago.
The community has a voluntary Homeowners Association, registered with the State of Florida as Country Oaks Home Owners, Incorporated - a Florida Not for Profit 501(C)(3) that exists to help ensure Country Oaks remains a wonderful place to call home.
